Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta promotes the study of history by encouraging research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of ideas among historians.

Phi Alpha Theta, established in 1921, is the national honor society in history. Since its inauguration the society has grown to more than 700 chapters in all 50 states. In fact, it has more chapters than any other accredited honor society. It brings together students, teachers and writers of history for intellectual and social exchanges. Members of Phi Alpha Theta are eligible for several awards and scholarships toward graduate study.

The national society holds a convention every other year, and regional groups meet annually. Students from Hope's Gamma Rho chapter have attended and made presentations at regional meetings. Our local chapter also sponsors various speakers and special events throughout the academic year.

Professor Johnson is currently the advisor for 91自拍论坛's chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.
