Dr. Andrew “Dru” Johnson teaches Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to Biblical
Literature, and Rituals in Science and Christianity. At The King’s College in New York City, where
he taught for 12 years before becoming a visiting professor of religion at Hope in 2023, in
addition to traditional courses in biblical studies he tackled topics including Israeli cinema and
cultural anthropology.

His eighth book, What Hath Darwin to Do with Scripture?, was released in late 2023. (On his
personal website a helpful scale from “easy to read” to “nerdiest” guides potential readers to
an appropriate choice.) He also explores the philosophical and intellectual world of biblical
literature as the co-host of two podcasts (The Biblical Mind and the OnScript Podcast) and in
publications including Christianity Today and Comment.

Dr. Johnson has held research fellowships at the Shalem Institute for Advanced Studies in
Jerusalem, the Logos Institute at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, and the Henry Center
at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois. In 2023 he launched a new project, the Multi-
faith Creation and Science Project (funded by Templeton Religion Trust). He’s ordained in the
Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
