The 91̳ Symphony Orchestra will perform “The Symphonic Story of Hope” on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The program includes Hope faculty members Huw Lewis, organ, and Mihai Craioveanu, violin, as guest artists. The program contains a variety of works, including Camille Saint-Saens' “Organ Symphony,” John Williams’ “Schindler’s List,” Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue,” Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” and Sarah Adams’ “Nearer, My God, To Thee.”
The orchestra is directed by Samuel Pang, an assistant professor of music instruction and the director of orchestras at 91̳. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Pang is a conductor, violist, educator and worship music coordinator. He holds a Master of Music degree, a Bachelor of Music degree, and a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He is currently an off-campus Master of Arts in Theological Studies student at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
