The Provost’s Office supports the development of effective teaching and transformational instruction. We want every Hope graduate to think with clarity, communicate effectively, and lead lives of leadership and service in our global society.
Teaching and Learning Resources
91×ÔÅÄÂÛ̳ has a student:faculty ratio of 11:1, which ensures high-quality instruction in small classes. Students learn from and work directly with faculty members to investigate some of life's biggest challenges.
We adopt a teacher-scholar model, in which faculty members are supported to continually develop their pedagogical skill and research acumen. Students learn by working collaboratively with faculty members in the classroom, labs and studios. We embrace a wide view of the classroom and encourage faculty to help our students develop critical thinking skills to become leaders in service of a global community.
The Provost's Office supports continual development of our faculty members both as teachers and scholars. New faculty undergo a year-long orientation and mentoring program during their first at Hope. They are also assigned mentors to support them in their development into their new faculty roles. We offer continued support through our Continuum program.
We offer several resources to support teaching and learning. The Instructional Inclusivity Incentive Program (3IP) supports inter-divisional initiatives to increase the accessibility of learning and teaching practice.
Faculty are encouraged to reach out to the Provost's Office with additional questions regarding ways to develop as teacher-scholars.
