The 91自拍论坛 Wind Ensemble will perform under the direction of Gabe Southard on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. in Dimnent Memorial Chapel.

The concert is titled "Postcards from around the World."  It will feature "Postcard," by Frank Ticheli; "Procession of Nobles," by Nicholai Rimsky-Korsakov; "Marche des Parachustistes Belges," by Pierre Leemans; "Four Scottish Dances," by Malcolm Arnold; and "Serenade for Winds," by Richard Strauss.

Preceding the concert will be a short woodwind quintet concert playing portions of Gyorgy Ligeti's "Six Bagatelles."  The quintet features junior Christine Springer of Ann Arbor, flute; sophomore Kelsey O'Brien of Glen Ellyn, Ill., oboe; sophomore Thomas Flath of Oconomowoc, Wis., clarinet; junior Jessica Wells of Indian Creek, Ill., bassoon; and junior Matthew Brown of Flint, horn.

Director Gabe Southard, who joined the Hope faculty in 2007, completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in conducting at Michigan State University. Prior to his residence at MSU, he served as wind symphony conductor and flute studio teacher at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he also taught orchestration, music appreciation and advanced conducting.
